We'll have workshops to teach you how to play a wide variety of games. There will be tournaments, but of what games will be decided by you the players. If there's enough interest in a game, we will have a tournament with prizes.

Sponsors / Prizes:
Charter Communications has agreed to provide us with extremely fast Internet, so the LAN party is guaranteed to go off without a hitch.

TC Paintball will be giving FREE field passes to the first 50 people in the door (FYI, pre-registered attendants are given first dibs), as well as to all the tournament winners.

Best Buy is giving us 4x $50 gift cards to give out as prizes.

All tournament winners will earn a chance to win a prize in the return of the oh-so-popular GTFF raffle.

We've got even more prizes, but the list is too long to list here. You'll just have to come to the event and see.

2010 GTFF Flyer

from Announcements, by NiX0n, on Wednesday April 7th, 2010
Image
Here's the 2010 GTFF flyer. As always, please print these off (bare minimum, one) and carry them with you wherever you go, so you can post them on bulletin boards and give to friends. Word of mouth is the best way to bring new people to GTFF. It's your job (yes "your job") to spread the word. If you can prove that you've been posting these (try to do it legitimately so they don't get tore down), the people who post the most will deserve some sort of reward at the next events. Post picture proof on our messageboard.

As the flyer shows, we've got a lot planned for 2010. There's no doubt, these will be the biggest and best events to date. So don't miss all the fun.

GTFF & The 2010 Season

from Announcements, by NiX0n, on Tuesday January 26th, 2010

Welcome to GTFF, Grand Traverse FragFest! We've decided to make a lot of changes around here. Notably, we are now GTFF. In an effort to disambiguate ourselves from the Traverse City Film Festival, as well as broaden our title, we've tossed out the "Traverse City" and have become Grand Traverse FragFest, or to be more simply referred to as GTFF.

Among many other surprises, we've got a lot of great things coming this 2010 FragFest season. First off, the talented "Nerdcore" rapper, Dual Core has agreed to come all the way up from Ohio and perform live at FragFest 17 (May 21st-23rd).

We're also in the talks with TADL BATL to have them at FragFest and help us host even more tournaments.

Many more details to come. Check back here, or become a fan of us on Facebook, to get the latest details.

Call of Duty - Modern WarFAIL 2

from FragFest - Public, by NiX0n, on Thursday November 5th, 2009
Image

I know some of you are stoked about the new Call of Duty coming out soon. Before you spend the green, there's a few things you should know about MW2. First off, there is no support for dedicated servers, which means no clan servers, no control over who's plays in a game, and more importantly next to impossible for us at FragFest to administer a tournament, let alone host quality LAN games. It gets worse, all mod-ability and server customization is removed, and game sizes are limited to 9v9. This all adds up to a bad LAN play. *edit by Treize* Here is a table comparing what was in cod4 and what is missing from mw2 */edit*

It's too bad Infinity Ward had to ruin what would otherwise likely be a great game. We at FragFest highly disapprove, and will not be endorsing this game in any way at future events (which btw, we are planning and will announce dates soon).

FragFest 16 in the Can

from Announcements, by NiX0n, on Tuesday August 18th, 2009
What a weekend!!! FragFest 16 may not have had a huge turnout, but we certainly got the most hardcore gamers we've seen in a long time. There were no lulls. For 42 hours straight, gamers played night and day. With the new and improved console area, there was almost always something going on. We also saw a lot of both new and old school gaming (we had almost 20 people playing Unreal Tournament at one point, and even someone playing an Atari), which is always nice to see.

We can't forget all those "G33K B33R FL0475" we had. Those were amazing. FYI, the ice cream was donated to us from Mackinaw Brewing Company. Thanks MBC!!!

It's been quite a season. I hope to see you all next year where we're sure to have even more fun stuff to do at the party.

P.S. Keep your eyes open for a new official FragFest Call of Duty 4 server for all of you to play on while away from the LAN. Coming soon!
